Bluegrass Music Tabs for Those Who Want to Play Themselves

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Particularly American bluegrass music has had for quite a while now its settled artists and their eager admirers. Bluegrass music seems to be a good companion at any moment because it sings the soul of regular people confronting with regular problems anyone can relate to. For those who hold a special place for that old-time melancholy atmosphere, there is no obstacle between them and their love for bluegrass music. However, bluegrass music is not as old as you may think. It indeed combines old rhythms with Scottish-Irish influences, but it dates back somewhere in the 1930s, when Bill Monroe turned it into a popular means of entertainment.

Nonetheless, bluegrass music goes beyond being equal to just another tool for diversified entertainment. Those who fall in love with bluegrass music often get so caught in the mix of melancholic tunes rendered by a varied assembly of stringed instruments that they want to learn to play these instruments, or at least one of them, so as to be able to perform themselves the bluegrass music of their liking. And they surely do not lack bluegrass tabs to help them out. Bluegrass tabs or bluegrass music tablature will basically attempt to render noted guidelines for the instrument of your interest.

There are genuine ‘followers’ of bluegrass music who cannot imagine authentic, original, unspoiled bluegrass music without some unique banjo rhythms completing the group of mandolin, guitar, bass, and fiddle. Well, there is no need to worry: bluegrass tabs for banjo are very popular. Bluegrass tabs will show you how to play your banjo (or guitar) so as to enjoy the flow of bluegrass music better adjusted to your voice. Bluegrass tabs are to be understood as mere maps on which strings, frets and proper finger placement is indicated. However, these bluegrass tabs are not the single tools for appropriate bluegrass music performing. In other words, even if bluegrass tabs are extremely useful in pointing out the fingering to be employed in playing as accurately as possible a certain bluegrass music piece, additional skills are necessary.

This does not mean that bluegrass music is ‘playable’ just by a privileged group. On the contrary, bluegrass tabs are available precisely in order to turn bluegrass music approachable for any other man (or woman, for that matter) with enough taste for good music so as to want to play it. The supplementary skill lies in learning to tune your instrument to be able to follow the indications provided by bluegrass tabs and to bring the instrument to actually fit your voice. An instrument out of tune has most likely some quarrel with its vibrating parts which, in the case of stringed instruments, are obviously the strings. The key to a pleasant sounding and an advantageous handling of bluegrass tabs indications lies, therefore, in tuning your stringed instruments accurately.

Bluegrass tabs are available for a wide range of songs. There are bluegrass tabs arranged for Irish tunes played with a banjo, such as Fire on the Mountain, Wildwood Flower, or Old as the Hills, there are bluegrass tabs for fiddle tunes, such as Billy in the Lowground or Gold Rush and the list of bluegrass tabs goes on, since their creators actually have the possibility to adapt numerous songs to fit the pattern of bluegrass music.

Moreover, if you want to acquire your own bluegrass tabs generator, this is possible since there are on the market programs specifically designed for bluegrass tabs writing. Such tablature writing software is generally quite easy to use and install. With the assistance of such a program, you will be able even to listen to the tablature created, edited and, in some cases, printed – everything just to make your technique better.

Although it might be tempting to use such bluegrass tabs generator software, it is recommended to be original on your own and let yourself be inspired (without copying) by the bluegrass music players who are famous for their talents. Bluegrass music is the voice of the soul that wants to let itself be heard. So let yourself feel and start singing bluegrass music. If you don’t succeed, don’t despair because you’ll always have bluegrass music to make you feel better.

Federico Beauty Institute Selected as Top US School for Student

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Lauren DeQuiroz’s journey to Federico Beauty Institute took a couple of detours…but those detours were invaluable life lessons that led to a very positive outcome.

Although Lauren always knew she wanted to go to beauty school, she also felt it was important to experience college life.  Lauren attended University of Colorado, Boulder for two years before pursuing her dream to become a hair stylist.

Lauren enrolled in an 1800-hour Cosmetology program at a franchise school in the Denver area.  But a third of the way through the program, Lauren knew the school was not right for her. She observed very quickly that the school’s curriculum didn’t include materials or student exercises on what it takes to pass the State Boards (Licensure is a requirement to practice Cosmetology in most States).

Finding the Right Pivot Point School

Lauren began her search for a beauty school that met her requirements….a combination of hands-on, real-life practical training in a salon-like environment coupled with a curriculum consisting of rigorous “drills” for students on passing the State Boards.  A third factor — locating a school that taught the Pivot Point curriculum – was equally important.

Lauren had become familiar with Pivot Point at the beauty school in Denver.  Pivot Point equipment, like tripods, was used at the school along with Pivot Point’s book, “Salon Fundamentals.”   Lauren asked and soon learned that the Denver school WAS NOT Pivot Point Certified, and had no plans to change their curriculum in the future.

She began an extensive research project to find the right beauty school that met her criteria.  She spent a lot of time on the Pivot Point Academy website and became sold on the Pivot Point hair and skin care education.

We’ll teach you to see, think, create and adapt as a designer – not just duplicate the latest fashion trends – but to be the innovator of these trends.  Pivot Point website

Narrowing her search to a handful of beauty schools, Lauren found Federico’s website especially engaging and well-organized.  “I especially liked Gary Federico’s video,” she commented.  http://www.federico.edu/corporate-video

 Equally impressive was Federico’s responsiveness.  Lauren said, “Most schools I called weren’t very helpful or willing to quickly send me the information I needed to make a decision.  Federico was very proactive…sending me the information I requested right away, then communicating with me via email on a daily basis.

The final step was a campus tour of Federico’s Sacramento campus.  Lauren found the staff even more personable and helpful than they were on the phone.  She liked the fact that the main office was on site and everyone she needed to meet with – admissions, financial services, career services – was in the same building.

The following factors “sealed the deal” for Lauren:

1)    Federico has been in the beauty school business for over 60 years;

2)    Federico is a Pivot Point International member school;

3)    According to the Federico’s catalog, the school’s Educational Goal is “designated to assist the student’s capability to pass the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology licensing examination.”

4)    An externship program that places students in Sacramento-area beauty salons;

one day a week, in place of going to class, students can observe the work of experienced beauty professionals.

A Bright Future

Lauren graduated from Federico’s Cosmetology program on Monday, December 22nd, 2008.

She will now put the finishing touches on her resume with Federico’s Student Services support.  She would like to find a salon in the Stockton CA area – about an hour from Sacramento – to be closer to some family and friends.

Federico has long standing relationships with Sacramento-area salons who hire many Federico graduates, but Jennifer Hancock, Federico’s Student Services Coordinator, is very eager to help Lauren find a job in Stockton.  On Lauren’s behalf, Jennifer will send Lauren’s resume and information about Federico Beauty Institute, to two salons that Lauren has identified in Stockton.

Lauren is confident she will find a great job.  “Federico is very well known and admired in northern California.  It’s great to have Federico training on my resume.”

Scheduled to take the State Boards on January 16th, is there anyone out there that doubts Lauren will pass her licensure exams, start her beauty career and go on to future success as a beauty professional?
